Cotton yarn question
Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out because I are contemplating doing some cotton cloth to make a summer jacket for the NEWS garment competition. If I wanted to weave something like a basket weave in a cotton or something with a window pane using higher epi as the base yarn and a thicker yarn to create the window pane pattern, what would you suggest as a good cotton yarn for garments. I may also like to use some funky thick or ribbon type yarns as the weft (a whole different look – kind of like a weft faced cloth.
I have some 3/2 mercerized Valley Cotton from Webs and some 8/2 Valley cotton. I’d like the fabric to have a slightly stiff hand so that the jacket wouldn’t be too drapey since I won’t be lining it. I could also pick up some funky ribbon or even making some cotton cloth strips to create the effect. hmmmmm.
So here’s the funny part, I need to do this asap to get the sewing done and then break the news to Randy that I won’t be around for a month. LOL. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Marie
